Feka Next On Board In Reds’ Recruitment Drive

Salford City Reds continued their impressive recruitment for 2011 and beyond by announcing the capture of Iafeta Palea’asina from Wigan Warriors. The barnstorming prop has signed a three-year deal a fortnight ago, but confirmation of the signing can only just be reported.

Feka is the next in a procession of quality signings following Luke Patten, Chris Nero, Stephen Wild, Tevita Leo-Latu and Vinnie Anderson to The Willows for the final season, before upping sticks and heading across the City to the Reds’ new home adjacent to The Trafford Centre.

28-year-old Auckland born Feka started off with the Auckland Warriors before arriving at these shores as a stellar-signing for the Wigan Warriors.

The impact forward will now arrive at The Willows in the close-season with ex-Wigan team-mate, former State of Origin star Phil Bailey in a double-deal that will further revamp the Reds’ squad for the final season at The Willows.

The Reds’ beat off a host of clubs eager to sign the giant Samoan and will add him and Bailey to their impressive ranks for next term. Feka told us: “I’m really looking forward to joining Salford. I know some of the other guys who are coming such as Tevita Leo-Latu and Vinnie Anderson really well and we’re all talking about next season and we’re pretty excited about getting Salford up where they should be.

“The Reds have struggled this season because of injuries and that can happen. Next season though I think we’ll have a bit more depth and we’ll certainly be a different proposition.”
