Streetlights project
This project is one of the Reds’ Foundations latest initiatives designed to engage youngsters away from the traditional school environment. We are well under way with this scheme and are engaging new groups of young people on an informal basis in local haunts in areas across Salford, Trafford & Manchester.
Local sites where community partners have asked for help have been identified. Specific sites include Seymour Park MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) in Trafford, Little Hulton MUGA in Salford and Albert Park in Broughton. Young people are being engaged by project development offficers and provided with pathways which include ourt Reds Volunteering Programme and local amatuer clubs.
The scheme runs well in to 2010 and will see new amatuer clubs develop, new coaches & volunteers emerge providing us with some real sustainability for the future. This is supported by the Reds Foundations’ other community partners who include the GM Police and Salford City Reds first team players who help put at the sessions becoming mentors for some of the disaffected young people we encounter.
