REDS Project
The Rugby Education Development Scheme ‘REDS’ Project is one of the latest activities the SCR Foundation has begun delivering within the local community. The 2 year Community Investment Fund backed scheme will allow the Reds Foundation the opportunity to deliver an in depth coach education programme for all age groups across Salford, Mancheser, Trafford and surrounding areas.
Senior coaching courses will be put on for university and college students initially. Once these students are qualified they will be required to accompany the REDS project Officer in the delivery of Rugby League Organiser Awards at local high schools. In turn, the newly qualified high school pupils will then be tasked with passing on their new skills to primary school children and fellow high school pupils. A series of festivals will be delivered with high schools the focal point for teams participating from their feeder primary school teams.
The Reds project will allow us to develop a new bank of people who ae qualified coaches, referees and players at all ages. The project will then open up pathways for these participants to continue their experiences with existing and new amatuer clubs, representative systems, match officials societies etc. Specifically the project will increase the volunteer bank locally across all ages regardless of ability and background, whilst increasing the number of competitive school teams, generally adding value to sport at school and increasing the emplyability of all participants
