Fairshare project

Salford City Reds Foundation delivers innovative projects across the whole of the North West, but one of the most successful schemes has been a project delivered in the Barton area of the city. The Foundation is currently half way though a 2 year scheme designed to engage the local community of Barton with a wide range of activities. The Reds Foundation’s development officers and community coaches have been delivering these activities in the area’s primary schools; including St Andrews, as well as offering our services to local high schools, which contain pupils from Barton.
The Fair Share Trust programme aims to:
- Build Capacity and Sustainability – by involving local communities in decision-making about lottery funding.
- Build Social Capital – by building links within and between communities to promote trust and participation.
- Improve liveability – by improving the living environment for communities.
Foundation Development Officer Tom Haworth added “we have achieved numerous success stories within the Barton area of Salford over the past year and look forward to many more. It is really rewarding working in an area like Barton, as the activities we deliver and services we offer can make a real difference”
Salford Council’s Eccles Neighbourhood Manager Julie Blagden says “we are always trying to improve the lives of local residents by providing as wide a range of activities as possible. Our partnership with SCR Foundation allows us to provide members of the local community with opportunities they may otherwise not receive”
