Eye Cancer Fundraiser
November 24, 2009 by Paul Mc
Salford City Reds, in association with the Reds’ Golden Bond Lottery are supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust Fundraising Day at the Dog & Partridge on Church Street in Eccles on Sunday 6 December.
Reds players will be among special guests headlined by none other than Britain’s Got Talent Winner, George Sampson, who will be appearing at 2pm for the cause, and there will also be a car boot sale between 8am and midday.
The event is organised by family and friends of little Sariah Greensmith who has been diagnosed with Retinoblastoma in her right eye and has undergone some extremely tough medical procedures over the past few weeks.
At 23 months old Sariah had to have her eye out due to a cancer known as Retinoblastoma. This fundraising day is not just about raising money it’s about making people aware of this illness in young people.
Sometimes this form of cancer cannot be detected until the latter stages then resulting in the child having to travel to hospitals that deal with this illness causing a lot of financial strain and stress to the families.
