The gloves will be off at Oliver’s Boxing Gym this Friday as Salford’s very own European light middleweight champion Jamie Moore will be hoping for the bragging rights when The Salford Reds take on St. Helens in the rugby league Super League at the Willows.

Salford born and bred Jamie will be hoping the Reds can put one over St. Helens the favoured Club of Oliver’s Gym stable-mate Martin Murray winner of the Prizefighter middleweight boxing series featured on Sky.

Martin a St. Helens lad is a self confessed rugby league nut and were it not for his success in the ring would be a regular down at his beloved Knowsley Road home of the Saints.

Trainer Oliver Harrison said from his famous Holland Walk gym in Salford, “I might have to invest in a whistle and some red and yellow cards if I have to keep referring these two! But seriously there might be a bit of banter, but the lads are the best of friends and get on well together.”

Jamie Moore added, “Although Martin is a weight division up from me, we have been doing some sparring sessions in the ring. The ring banter has been a bit tasty as have some of the shots flying in, but at the end of the day the rugby is a side issue as we both get ready for our next fights.”

Martin said, “Salford is my second home and I have nothing but respect for the people who are brilliant, but come Friday night I hope it’s the Saints that go marching in!”

Jamie will be defending his European crown at the George Carnell Sports Centre, Urmston on Friday 24th July whilst Martin will next take to the ring on Friday 10th July in Sunderland in an eight round match up.
