Robbie Paul is hoping for a magic return to Murrayfield when the Salford City Reds star travels to Edinburgh to face Harlequins at engage Super League’s Magic Weekend on May 2-3.

The influential Kiwi has fond memories of Murrayfield having played in the Bradford side that beat Leeds in the 2000 Challenge Cup and has hailed the venue as one of the best in the world.

Robbie Paul said “Murrayfield has to be one of the top contemporary stadiums to play at in the world. I’d place it up there in the top four alongside the likes of Wembley and Old Trafford without a doubt.”

“I’ve played the game the world over and there is an atmosphere that you can almost taste when you play there. When I played there for the Bulls in 2000 it was an amazing experience and one I’ll never, ever forget.”

“Off-the field the set-up is very professional and pretty much all your needs as a player are catered for and the way the whole place is set up makes it very easy for the fans to fall in love with too.”

“I think the pitch, and therefore the games, will be better at Magic than they were in Cardiff because we won’t have the problem with the grass “sweating” because of the open top. This means teams will be able to play their natural game and things will get pretty exciting. I can’t wait.”

Salford City Reds are first up for the carnival of Rugby League and will face Harlequins RL at 3:00pm on Saturday 2 May.

The Magic Weekend featuring seven top class engage Super League games, will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend (2/3 May) at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.
