Reds Go Bird-Watching In France
April 17, 2009 by Paul Mc
Salford City Reds’ Head Coach Shaun McRae believes that Catalans Dragons controversial Australian Greg Bird will be the biggest threat to the Reds three-match winning streak, when they come up against the French side in Perpignan this Saturday.
“Greg Bird is world class, there’s no doubt about it. He is an outstanding player for them and we have to be aware of that,” said McRae.
“Having said that we have some players who are in a pretty rich vein of form themselves. I look at Stefan Ratchford and see he’s improving week on week. He’s now bigger and stronger and handling the wing position much better.
“Last week at Leeds he was very good. On consecutive tackles he hit and controlled Ali Lauitiiti and then Ryan Hall, who are both big men.
“There’s no doubt that wing is not Stefan’s best position but like most blokes at this club, he is happy to play anywhere if it means he is getting picked for the first team. ”
Ratchford will again start on the wing against the Dragons while McRae’s new loan-signing Darrell Goulding will feature on the other flank.

Really pleased for young Stefan now that he’s getting to start in a few games.
And like head coach McRae has stated above we all know Ratchford is playing out of position but at least he’s out on the paddock giving his usual 100% for the cause and thats what it’s all about at this stage of the season..
Good Luck tomorrow night everybody over in France.
i cant go but il sure to be lisening to the match on the radio good luck
acsurely you are forgeting one more player that people underestimate the french player Thomas Bosc he may cause alot of worries but lets not get to cocky and turn into the team at the begining of the season gl reds
