Reds Deliver Easter Treats to Children’s Hospital
April 15, 2009 by Paul Mc
Salford City Reds players made their last visit to Pendlebury Children’s Hospital over the Easter weekend, before the historic building closes its doors and relocates to its brand new state of the art home in Manchester later this year.
Courtesy of the Reds Lottery, Reds players distributed Easter eggs to children on three of the wards in the hospital and talked rugby with the families ahead of the Easter weekend fixtures.
Working directly with The New Children’s Hospital Appeal, the Reds lottery will be aiming to give its biggest ever donation to coincide with the opening of the new Manchester children’s hospital later this year. Reds Lotteries Manager Lee Cummins said:
“We are proud to be associated with the hospital and to be able to support the fantastic work carried out there.
“The Reds lottery has seen an increase in the number of people joining over the last six months and therefore we are hoping to increase our donation in what is a crucial year for the appeal.
With two million pounds left to raise The New Children’s Hospital Appeal has raised £18 million of its £20 million target, focusing on two main areas; providing accommodation for parents to stay with their child on and close to the wards and additional and up-to date equipment.
Maurice Watkins Chairman of The New Children’s Hospital Appeal added: “We are extremely grateful to the players and staff from Salford City Reds for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit the children in hospital. We are also very grateful to their fans and the Red Lottery for supporting the Appeal and helping to make a difference to the children and families who will use the new hospital.”
