Jubilant McRae Heaps Praise On Victorious Reds
April 13, 2009 by Paul Mc
Jubilant Salford coach Shaun McRae is thrilled with Salford City Reds performances over Easter. With the Reds bagging a Bank Holiday double of wins over the Wolves and Champions, the Rhinos, things couldn’t be much brighter when you combine that with knocking Hull FC out of the cup just eight days ago too, and it all seems a world away from the doom and gloom of the six match losing streak that preceeded this last run of results that have come seemingly out pf the blue.
He said: “That was only our third victory at Leeds in over half a century. We knew that and set out to create a bit of history. There were players out there who have been written off but they really showed what they could do today and stuck to their task magnicifently.
“I am elated by what happened, but as in all games there were things we did well and things we didn’t do quite so well and can work on this week before we head to Catalans on Friday.”
McRae praised the performance of half-back Richard Myler who scored one try, created another and gave a non-stop display.
He said: “Richard will take a lot out of that game because I nearly didn’t play him. He talked me round and I’m glad he did because he is a real talent. You saw what he could do behind our pack when they are going forwards. Leeds are a big, powerful team but we stood up to them and Richard’s was one of many good performances today.”
Powerhouse prop Phil Leuluai was equally pleased, especially as he got one over his nephew Kylie for the first time: “It’s a great result for the club. Since I’ve been here we’ve lost the games where I’ve come up against Tommy and Kylie, this is the first time the Salford side of the Leuluai’s gets to celebrate! Hopefully this result will be remembered for many years to come. The Reds haven’t won here since before a lot of our boys were even born. It’s a great day for the fans.”

Fanflippintastic, still on cloud 9, couldnt go today lack of monies, omg how I wish I had, listened to the match on the radio couldnt believe what I was hearing, what a turnaround the last time I wrote on here I was slagging the reds and the coaching staff off, I am now eating my words. Was speaking to the father in law just before the match saying we was going to get Trounced again I am eating my words, I wish that Sky Sports would give us more televised matches, sick of seeing Wigan, Wakefield etc, wanna see more Salford.
Can’t wait for Boots N All on Wednesday, We should be top of the bill instead of getting a quick 5 minute mention.
Well Done Salford, A proud day for all Fans, keep it up.
