Salford coach Shaun McRae felt his side deserved the win achieved courtesy of two tries from Richard Myler with Luke Adamson also going over and John Wilshere kicking three goals.

“I thought we were the better side and just shaded it,” McRae said.

“It became a bit of a slog because of the conditions and I must admit I thought Hicks would have slotted over the goal after his earlier successes from the touchline looked like he was on song.

“You know me I don;t tend to single out individual players for praise but I thought Luke Adamson was outstanding in the back row and must have been a close second to Richie Myler for man of the match.

“Richie is improving all the time and is very influential in the things we do. He’s a good player and he’s finding his feet more each week.”
