Reds Jet Off To Jacksonville Camp
January 13, 2009 by Paul Mc

Salford City Reds departed for the USA and their pre-season training camp in Jacksonville on Sunday in preparation for the 2009 engage Super League campaign.
Returning to the sunshine state for the sixth year, the Reds will face a twelve day training camp which includes taking on the Carnegie World Champions in a rugby league stampede billed as ‘The World Champions V The National Champions’, on Saturday 17th January at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Played over four 20-minute quarters to accommodate US spectators and media, the match against the Rhinos will form a major part of the squads preparations for the season, however as Reds’ Fitness and Conditioning Coach Andy Haigh is keen to emphasise, training has been intensive since the team came back together in November.
“We have been putting the players through their paces and they have been experiencing three to four training sessions each day, which we will continue to implement in Jacksonville,” said Haigh.
“We are now looking for sharpness and speed agility in the build up to what is going to be an important game for us. The Rhinos are a strong team, but we are working hard and have the opportunity to test ourselves against the best before beginning the 2009 campaign.”
