Young Guns Ready to Gatecrash Super League
January 9, 2009 by Paul Mc
If ever there was a season where the rookies could be set to explode on the scene it will be 2009 and the Reds will be looking to bring some of the best fresh faces in the game today to the engage Super League stage.
Richie Myler is already being touted as being the one to watch but he will have with him a band of team-mates all tender in years who have the talent and skill to make a significant impact on this season’s competition.
Jordan Turner is a little older and wiser than the last time he appeared in the top flight and after a highly impressive season learning his trade in 2008’s National League clean-sweep he’s set to highlight his potential as one of the rising stars in the British game.
“Super League is a real test of how good you are as a player,” he said, “Some of the best players in the world are over here now and the chance to put yourself up against them is one that every player should dream of.”
Another figure around The Willows who seems to have been there for years is 20-year-old Stefan Ratchford who came through the Scholarship system at the Reds and has forced himself into the first-team and is beginning to turn heads across the League.
“I was really glad to be back in training. 2009 has to be a big year for me and working alongside some of the experienced players in training will obviously be beneficial to my general game.”
Head of Youth Development at the Reds Alan Hunte said: “Every year has seen us improve and with the new Licensing system it will make sure that we continue to do so.”
The Reds will be the first of the engage Super League teams to hold their official media launch at the Trafford Centre this afternoon where photographers and journalists from the local and national press will be in attendance.
