Hartley On The Move

Salford City Reds today confirmed that young stand-off Tim Hartley is in talks with some of the Reds ‘ Super League rivals.

Football Director Steve Simms told us: “Tim was offered a new 12 month contract which he accepted but hasn’t signed. He has since been approached by another club and is in negotiatons considering offers elsewhere.”

“He is a good up and coming young player but we only want players who are 100% committed to Salford City Reds and we are still waiting to hear from his agent, who hasn’t been very forthcoming as to what his plans are.”

The Reds have signed both Andrew Dunemann and Stephen Myler in half-back positions for next year but were still hoping Hartley would have continued his progress at The Willows.

The Trafford Centre Renew Deal

The Trafford Centre, Manchester’s £1.4billion shopping and leisure destination, has renewed its sponsorship deal with Salford City Reds Rugby League Club for the 2006 season.

The deal, worth £200,000, will see The Trafford Centre as the main shirt sponsors and will include significant branding at The Willows stadium as well as regional and national branding opportunities. The partnership will also extend to community projects in and around the Salford and Manchester region and will include school initiatives to encourage and promote anti bullying and anti racism, as well as educational programmes, after school clubs and community and IT classrooms. The initiatives will also encourage children to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Gordon McKinnon, Director of Operations at The Trafford Centre said: “We are delighted to be supporting Salford City Reds for another year and wish them every success for the forthcoming season. The sponsorship is a mutually beneficial partnership between the leading shopping and leisure destination and one of the most successful Rugby League clubs in the UK. Reds Unveil 2006 Strip at The Trafford Centre

Salford City Reds today unveil their strip for the 2006 engage Super League campaign.

Having caused quite a stir with rumours of an all-pink strip abound, fans today got their first opportunity to see that the strip will in fact be navy blue and trimmed with the City of Salford colour of Magenta.

The first two kits to arrive in the country were specially air-freighted in from Sydney for the Press Conference and the Reds are expected to have them on sale over the next couple of weeks in the Club Shop and with our retail partner Debenhams at The Trafford Centre.

Reds’ fan Pauline Turner said: “I really like it. It’s something totally different and I’ll definitely be buying one.”

Former NRL stars Junior Langi and Kevin McGuinness were on hand to model the new strip, once again supplied by Australian kit manufacturer ISC.

Magic Bag Official Radio Deal

Salford City Reds have extended their relationship with Magic 1152 Manchester in a deal that sees them become Official Radio Partner of the Reds and also appear on the Playing Shorts next season.

Formed in 1974 as Piccadilly Radio the station changed its name to Magic in 1996 celebrating 25 years of radio broadcasting in Manchester . Currently Magic 1152 Manchester is the Number One AM station in Manchester . The station added 33,000 new listeners, since May 2005, with a total audience of 144,000.

Simon Lowe, Head of Magic 1152 said: “Magic is committed to supporting sport across the area – particularly rugby. With Magic 1152′s focus on Manchester and local sport, we are delighted to be associated with Salford City Reds and look forward to developing a close relationship with them throughout the season.”

Dunemann Gets Ready for Reds

Grand Finalist Andrew Dunemann has joined Salford City Reds on a 12 month deal. Andrew will return to Australia for the next couple of months to spend time with his family before linking up with the Reds in early January.

He will return to fill the Reds’ last overseas quota spot and lead Karl Harrison’s assault on the play-offs next season.

Dunneman will provide extra much-needed guile in the middle of the field and is set to link up with starlet Luke Robinson to form an exciting half-back partnership.

Super League X saw Andrew play more than 30 times in the starting line-up for Leeds Rhinos and he was one of their most influencial players, putting in a stunning performance in the Playoffs against the Wolves.

The Brisbane-born utility player has made 241 club appearances scoring 42 tries and 186 points in Super League. He was also runner-up in this year’s Rhinos Player of the Year award.

Red City Continue Partnership

Red City Development have emphasised their commitment to the Reds by continuing their business partnership by branding their company logo on the back collar of the home and away shirt for the 2006 season as well as becoming founder members of the club.

Established in 2001, Red City Development was set up to help deliver the iconic new stadium in Barton planned for completion in 2008. A stadium designed for both Salford City Reds and the City of Salford.

Red City Developments Director, Howard Clague said, “Since the conception of Red City Developments, we have marketed our company branding on the Salford City Reds shirt and are proud to be supporting the club endeavours both on and off the pitch.

“The stadium is still firmly on track and we are positive about an early planning decision.

Godliman & Watson Build New Reds Future

Salford City Reds are delighted to announce that builders and developers Godliman and Watson have become Associate shirt sponsors for next season and founder members moving into our iconic new stadium at Barton.

Formed in 1985 by Barry Godliman and Iain Watson the company is involved in the urban regeneration of Salford and committed to enhancing the area in which they develop. They have gradually expanded over the past 20 years, training many of their staff as part of a loyal and competent workforce which takes great pride in its work.

Four Reds Make England Line-Up

England Head Coach Karl Harrison has named four Salford City Reds players in the 21-man squad to face France and New Zealand.

Malcolm Alker, Luke Robinson and David Hodgson are joined by pack workhorse Chris Charles in the line-up for the first game against the French at Headingley on 23 of this month.

The squad will then play New Zealand in Warrington on 6 November.

Award-winning Manchester advertising agency And Partners has been re-appointed by Super League rugby club Salford City Reds. The appointment sees the agency continue as the club’s official marketing partner.

Speaking following the appointment, And Partners’ Managing Director Andrew Brown-Allan commented, “We’re proud to renew our association with Salford City Reds. The forthcoming move to the iconic City of Salford stadium marks an exciting new era for the club and, coupled with the opportunity to work with a great team off the pitch, it’s a prospect we’re very excited about”.
