Boxer Brodie Backs the Reds
May 16, 2005 by Paul Mc · Comments Off

Local lad Michael Brodie, took time out of his punishing training schedule to lend his support to the Salford City Reds on Friday evening.
Brodie who will take on Scott Harrison at the MEN Arena on Friday 3 rd June for the WBO Featherweight title, was as disappointed as the rest of us with the result but reckoned the Reds will bounce back to winning ways.
He said “It’s great to come and support your local team, and I live nearby so I was glad to be invited by the club.”
“I’m hoping that there will be plenty of local support for me down at the Arena when I take on Harrison next month.”
Those of you who fancy a night at the boxing will be pleased to know that tickets for the fight are still available via www.ticketmaster.co.uk
We are all right behind Michael and hope to see him back at the Willows with his title.

Fan’s favourite Paul Highton returns to the line-up tonight after three months out with a badly broken arm.
Highton broke the arm in Round One against Wigan and has undergone intensive treatment to get back to fitness.
He told us: “I’m really looking forward to it. I only found out I was in the squad yesterday so it’s just sinking in but I’m really working myself up for it now. I’m a little nervous but once I get out there it’ll pass I’m sure.”
Darren Bamford is also set to continue his run in the first team after scoring against London in the Challenge Cup defeat.
Meanwhile, off-duty Reds’ stars will be on hand to sign autographs and have photos taken between 7.20pm and 7.50pm at various points around the ground.
You will find your players stationed by the Main Stand, the Willows Variety Centre and the North Terrace so come along and say hello!
