Reds Help Launch No-Smoking at The Trafford Centre
April 28, 2005 by Paul Mc · Comments Off
Salford City Reds players Kevin McGuinness, Chris Charles and Karl Fitzpatrick yesterday added their support to the Trafford Centre’s campaign to stub out smoking throughout the premises.
As of May 1 , the entire building will become a smoke free zone.
The move comes following the successful smoking ban imposed in certain restaurants, and the overall move to encourage a more healthy lifestyle and pleasant shopping experience for all the centre’s customers.
If you need advice about giving up smoking visit www.givingupsmoking.co.uk or telephone the NHS Smoking Helpline on 0800 169 0 169.
Aussie Boys Enjoying Life in the Top Half
April 20, 2005 by Paul Mc · Comments Off
City Reds overseas recruits Kevin McGuinness and Junior Langi spoke today of how they were enjoying the season so far here at The Willows.
McGuinness, who established himself as a firm crowd favourite last season has settled right back into things while Langi has had a tougher baptism, having missed most of the season so far after injuring a muscle on the pre-season training camp in the USA.
“I’ve been waiting for the weather to get warmer before putting my shorts on!” The former Parramatta Eeels player joked.
Langi is keen to do well, “I’m loving playing again. It was really, really frustrating but now I just need to get my match fitness up and I can enjoy it even more. I can’t wait to score my first try – hopefully on Friday night, but Stuart is playing really well as my centre at the moment so getting the ball off him is pretty hard!”
McGuinness meanwhile has found himself back in his more accustomed three-quarter role after a stint at stand-off.
“We’ve started well and are happy with being sixth, but we want to be possibly in fifth by the end of Friday night. The boys are really confident of two more points. We’re defending really well right now.”
The was good news too of Paul Highton who is now in full training after badly breaking his arm in Round One.
Langi told us: “Paul is just so keen to play again. He’s out there training hard every day and it’s great to see the effort he’s putting in. He has been really frustrated and we keep having to tell him to slow down.
The City Reds play Leigh Centurions here at The Willows on Friday night. Kick off 8pm.
