Reds Get Stadium Green Light
The multi-million pound community sports complex for Salford has been kicked off by councillors. Salford City Council’s cabinet has today approved plans to form a joint venture company with Peel Holdings to deliver a 15,000-seat community stadium, which will be home to Salford City Reds. The £26 million project will transform land at Barton, with Peel and the city council pooling their land-holdings to create a single, 70-acre super-site. Outline planning permission for the land had already been granted for a stadium and retail use. Detailed plans are expected to be submitted by the end of May. This announcement removes any lingering doubts ...

McRae Sorry For Salford Woes
Salford boss Shaun McRae expressed sympathy with the club's fans as his side slumped to a fifth straight defeat. Defeat for Salford was their fifth of the campaign and sees them replace Dragons at the foot of the standings, but it could have been so much better after leading 12-8 at the break. McRae said: "The fans are entitled to be frustrated and agitated, but we are the same. The players are all down in the dressing room. "We tried hard and thought we could build on the last two weeks but we were never in it in the second half. "I didn't think ...
Dragons Bounce Back To Leave Reds In Mire
Catalans Dragons are off the mark in the Engage Super League after mounting a stirring fightback to run in five tries and claim their first win of the campaign. The Dragons bounced back from a humiliating 58-0 hammering at Wigan last week with a vastly improved show thanks to tries from Chris Walker (two), Clint Greenshields, Setaimata Sa and Sebastien Raguin. Defeat for Salford was their fifth of the campaign and sees them replace Dragons at the foot of the standings, but it could have been so much better after leading 12-8 at the break. Reds Improving But Lose Low-Scoring Clash
The 0-7 scoreline in this Engage Super League encounter did little to portray the drama the game contained, with the Reds going close to snatching at least a point in the dying moments before Paul Sykes popped over a decisive drop goal to seal the points at The Willows. Match Report Steve Menzies claimed the only try as Bradford made heavy weather of winless Salford in a dour Engage Super League contest on a freezing, wet Friday night. The Australian forward's 24th-minute touchdown proved enough for a second successive Bulls victory but the manner of their performance was again unimpressive. Salford showed plenty of ...
